Grip on your Work: who is it for?

Professionals face three challenges these days:

  • You get 20 times as much information as 20 years ago;

  • You can be online and work 24/7;

  • Many organizations work in open offices.

These challenges call for skills in the organization of your working life that you probably didn’t learn at school. Grip on your Work is for you if you are having trouble organizing your work, if you feel that you could work more efficiently or if you have trouble setting the right priorities. After the training you will be guaranteed to have more peace of mind and a better grip on your work.

The training

The training is based on the book ‘Meer doen in minder tijd’. It consists of three sessions of 3, 2 and 0,5 hours respectively (the last session is online), with about a month in between. Together we apply the theory to your own work situation and laptop, which maximizes your learning efficiency.

During the sessions, we will cover at least all of the following topics: 

  • Information processing – digital, oral and hardcopy information;
  • Setting up a ‘dashboard’ for your work, with Outlook, Todoist or another tool, to give you overview and focus;
  • Planning and organizing big tasks (projects) alongside your small tasks;
  • How and when to evaluate your work, so that you set the right priorities;
  • Change from ‘living in your inbox’ to working from your own priorities;
  • Working brain-friendly, by creating enough breaks and uninterrupted time;
  • Creating a logical structure in your files, so you can find them quickly;
  • Any improvement points that will show up in your Time management test. 

 

During the first session we will deal with the first five topics mentioned above. During the second session, we will finetune these topics, and we will deal with the other topics. In between, you will receive assignments to implement the theory in your work. If necessary there will be a third session.


By mutual agreement we can deviate from the above content and sequence. If you use a different tool than Outlook or Todoist (for example Google, Reminders (Apple) or Evernote), we will tailor the coaching to that tool.

 

You will get telephone / email training during the course. If desired, a feedback will be given to your manager or director. You will get an e-syllabus with relevant background of the training.

Location

The training takes place at your place of work. Preferably not in the workplace itself, but in a separate, private space. Furthermore, only your laptop and a network connection are required.
